Have you ever considered a trip the Mississippi Gulf Coast? It is an often overlooked destination spot that is full of culture, history, recreation and natural beauty. There are a ton of resources out there that make it easy to plan an affordable vacation to the Gulf Coast. What’s really great is how affordable and accessible all of the attractions are. Attractions:

Since the gulf coast is located in a region that is surrounded by water and beaches there are tons of options for people who are looking to explore nature and escape the suburban lifestyle. Every year millions of fishers go to the “Fertile Fisheries Crescent,” a famous spot for fishing. It starts from Mobile to the Texas/Louisiana boarder. There are half a dozen public piers for fishermen as well as boats and ships that specialize in fishing excursions. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is a great place for competitive fishermen who more often than not, are successful at catching the big one. Traditional catches include white and speckled trout, flounder, Spanish and king mackerel, and sometimes even a marlin or two.

Besides fishing there are some amazing casino resorts for anyone who is looking for a weekend getaway. The coastline has 12 casinos and was ranked among the top casino markets in the United States by The American Gaming Association. These casino resorts not only offer black jack, poker and craps slots but also have exclusive night clubs, live shows, and luxury spas. Besides recreational activities, these resorts offer luxury suites and hotel rooms, many with waterfront views.

The Gulf Coast is also a great place to take the family. Mississippi is home to one of the biggest state of the art NASA Science Centers, the John C. Stennis Space Center.  The Lynn Meadows Discover Center, one of the best museums in the United States, also offers a great place for children to explore the famous Tree House Village, a rustic wood cabin. If you are interested in discovering the marine life there is a newly constructed Center for Marine Education and Research located in the Institute for Marine and Mammal Studies in the Gulfport. Kids can swim with dolphins here as well as feed, touch and interact with other wildlife.
