(See larger map image at braziltheguide.wordpress.com)

The teams, locations, dates and times have been set for the opening group matches at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer.

World Cup 2014 Dates: June 12, 2014 – July 14, 2014

Brazil 2014 Host Cities (12): Sao Paulo, Natal, Fortaleza, Manaus, Brasilia, Recife, Salvador, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizante and Rio de Janeiro.

Opening Match: Brazil vs. Croatia in Sao Paulo on June 12th, 2014

My goal is to work for the World Cup in Brazil somehow and find a way to see as many matches as possible while maintaining a home base in Rio de Janeiro. I would love to see matches in Recife, Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo (as well as Rio) to get a different perspective on climates, fans and atmosphere in unique regions around the country.

I have no idea how I’m going to do this yet, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. I haven’t bought any tickets yet.

Now is your chance to start comparing prices and book a flight to Brazil for the World Cup because prices are only going to increase from here. For those fans making the trip over, try flights to Brazil with Netflights to begin your search for cheap flights to Brazil.

Here is the complete FIFA World Cup Match Schedule for Brazil 2014:

The big matches to watch in the opening rounds is Brazil vs Mexico in Fortaleza, Spain vs Netherlands in Salvador, England vs Italy in Manaus, Uruguay vs England in Sao Paulo, Colombia vs Japan in Cuiaba, Germany vs Portugal in Salvador and every single USA Men’s Soccer team game.

I think Argentina, Belgium and France will walk through their groups.

While you’re planning your trip to Brazil, get involved in the ‘Alternative World Cup’ that Netflights has put together on their blog, which celebrates all things travel by pitting the best cities, foods, facts, bars and monuments of all the nation’s competing in the FIFA World Cup against one another in a winner take all show down!

For example, Netflights is inspiring travel by matching up Paris vs. Tokyo, Locro vs. Feijoada and Green Valley against Goa.

What are your predictions? Who will win the World Cup? Who will win the Alternative World Cup?
