Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 04:55PM Why Buenos Aires? Wonderful Question... the simple answer is, I have no idea, it just popped in my head one day and wouldn't get out. I saw it on the cover of Yahoo's homepage during a time when I was thinking about branching out from work. After this I started seeing Buenos Aires and Argentina everywhere. From Painters in Art Galleries and news articles to athletes. Omens I guess.
Upon more thought, Buenos Aires started to make sense. So, I came up with a 'why' list because my mom said 'why not' isn't good enough. Here it is...
1. I figure I'm relatively young with no strings attached. I might as well take this opportunity to conquer 2 of my major life goals. A. Live in a big city (whose primary language isn't English) and B. become fluent in a second language.
2. Argentina is cheap compared to other places I could have gone (AR Peso vs $US is almost 4 to 1).
3. I love steak and women and I hear they are both great there.
4. It's a big city with lots to do.
5. It's close by many other places I've always wanted to visit (Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Patagonia, etc.)
6. It's relatively safe compared to some of the other places I was thinking about. Here is a BA vs Rio De Janeiro comparison feed from other travelers.
7. Seasons are reversed and I'm not ready to go back to another Buffalo winter.
8. They speak spanish and I have more spanish knowledge than any other second language (which isn't saying much).
9. I am ready for a new adventure and its time once again to step out of my comfort zone. How much do you really know about yourself if you never leave home, meet new people or challenge your mind?
10. Buenos Aires is just fun to say. Try this line (and make sure you roll the Rrrrr) "Hey hot stuff I'm going to Buenossss Airrrrres! Are you impressed?"

Let me tell you, I'm from Sao Paulo and I've been in Rio and Buenos Aires and I prefer BA!!!! Good choice! Hahahaaha. BTW, I'm going to BA on this saturday. I LOVE this city! But come to Brazil, I think you'll like here! =)
Nice post, but if you roll the 'r', you're misprumouncing "Aires."
